Ken Morrison

Ken Morrison is a Tasmanian exploration geologist with 35+ years experience in all technical and administrative facets of exploration for metallic, fossil fuel and industrial mineral commodities.

He is a graduate of UTas, gaining a B.Sc. (Hons) in Geology in 1980 and a Master of Economic Geology degree in 1992. After 7 years as a company exploration geologist, he established his own Hobart-based consulting and contracting business in late 1986 and continues to operate in that role.

Between 1995 and 2013 he participated in several phases of mineral exploration at Mt Lyell and in the wider Queenstown region. More recently his geological interests have broadened to include; mapping Rift Valley basement rocks and searching for early human stone tool sites in northern Kenya, and craft scale technologies applied to the production of artisanal metal implements, including copper medals depicting links between the Unconformity and Queenstown geology.

Ken Morrison is a member of the Geological Society of Australia and a member of the Land Management Committee of the Tasmanian Minerals and Energy Council. He has contributed to both the 1989 and 2014 GSA publications on the geology and mineral resources of Tasmania and has authored numerous company exploration reports and co-authored bulletin and journal papers on the economic geology of Tasmanian petroleum, coal, gold and base metal occurrences.
