momo doto

momo doto is the artistic duo Tom Blake + Dominique Chen. As a collective they explore micro/macro perspectives of time-space, the mediation of environments, myth-making and thresholds. A threshold can refer to 'a place or point of entering or beginning' but it is also the term for 'a plank, stone, or piece of timber that lies under a door' ~ momo doto create works that exist in the space in between. Their work is concerned as much with the fragmented fingerprints left on a worry stone as it is by the Dalgaranga crater, left by one of the last meteors to pass through the atmosphere over this continent intact before colliding with the earth.

Recent works include touch stone (2017-), an ongoing participatory piece involving the transfer of rocks between Sydney and Brisbane in the pockets of airline passengers, and The Rock Agency History of Art (2017), a fictional piece, written with Dr Ilaria Vanni Accarigi and published as part of Hobiennale.

The Unconformity acknowledges the palawa people as the original and traditional custodians of lutruwita/Tasmania. We commit to working respectfully to honour their ongoing cultural and spiritual connections to this land.
