Rory Wray-McCann

I am an underground miner who has lived on the West Coast for nearly three decades, working and helping to raise and fund a family of three. I got out of the black rabbit game a while ago and rebadged myself as a surface tip rat with a creative bent. I use the materials of the Tasmanian landscape, mainly rocks and crystals, that I either find, plunder or that my mates donate, as my pallette. I then stick them together in concrete and leave them out in the backyard to weather and metamorphose into the stand-alone concepts that I had in mind at the time of reconstruction. They are different. I do not sell or exhibit so if you want to see them make a note of the bus schedule and I will see you on the weekend of The Unconformity.

The Unconformity acknowledges the palawa people as the original and traditional custodians of lutruwita/Tasmania. We commit to working respectfully to honour their ongoing cultural and spiritual connections to this land.
